Job description
As a Granite Circuit Design Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to provide comprehensive circuit design support to a major telecommunications client on a daily basis. Leveraging your expertise in network technologies, you will create end-to-end circuit designs for various customer requests, including New, Upgrade, Change, and Disconnect operations, in accordance with our customer's standards.
You will utilize tools such as Granite, Salesforce, Remedy, and Jira to generate ISP Tickets and manage the design process effectively. The circuit designs may involve Fiber Internet Access (FIA), dedicated internet access, voice trunks (PRI/SIP), and Ethernet topologies encompassing EPL, EVPL, EPLAN (point-to-point/point-to-multipoint).
In addition, you will be responsible for tasks such as Ethernet Virtual Circuit Identifications (EVCID), IP and VLAN assignments, equipment verification, equipment builds, inventory review, path, and segment assignments, and configuring equipment ports, while ensuring adherence to network best practices. Thorough end-to-end network tracing will be a vital aspect of your responsibilities for every task.
Requirements:
- Must have experience designing circuits in Granite.
- Experience in accessing and configuring multiple vendor equipment, with expertise in either Cisco or Juniper (knowledge of Sumitomo, Alcatel, RAD, and Adva equipment is preferred).
- Ability to trace layer 2 and layer 3 circuits from customer premises to Core Edge, even in situations with limited or no documentation.
- Strong background in facilities and equipment management.
- In-depth knowledge and experience with Ethernet technologies.
- Quick learning ability and adaptability to frequent changes.
- Self-motivated and capable of working remotely without constant supervision. You must possess your own laptop, Microsoft Office suite, and reliable internet access.
- Willingness to travel for a one-week high-intensity training session at the customer site
