Full Professor (W3) in Experimental Hematology
We are inviting applicants who will represent the field of “Experimental Hematology” in teaching, research and potentially in patient care within the Department for Haematology, Oncology, Haemostaseology and Stem Cell Transplantation (Medical Clinic IV) for the nearest possible date. The professorship is expected to represent internationally competitive mechanistic-functional laboratory research with a focus on myeloid neoplasms or hematopoietic stem cell diseases. Interest in the translation of molecular research results to clinical trials is strongly encouraged. Active participation in the development of the clinical-scientific focus of the Medical Clinic IV and the Center for Integrated Oncology Aachen (CIOA) of the CIOABCD is expected.
Interdisciplinary scientific co-operation with other departments and clinics of the Medical School is expected and interactions with the Helmholtz Institute for Biomedical Engineering and other key technical research areas of RWTH Aachen University including data sciences are strongly encouraged. The scientific involvement in key research areas of the Medical Faculty, specifically “Phase Transition in Disease” and “Organ Crosstalk”, and, if possible, in one or more of the existing consortia SFB TRR 219, SFB 1382, KFO 344, KFO 5011, IRTG 2150, GRK 2375, GRK 2415, GRK 2610, PAK 961, JARA, IZKF AACHEN is expected. In addition, an active commitment in the new medical student’s curriculum of the Medical Faculty (“Modellstudiengang Medizin Aachen”) and the master program “Biomedical Engineering” is required.
The requirements include a doctoral degree (MD or PhD) and additional research experience, such as a habilitation (post-doctoral lecturing qualification) or equivalent achievements gained as a university researcher or professor or in a research position outside academia. High-ranking publications and acquisition of third party funding are a must. Teaching ability and dedication are essential and the application should include proof of this (teaching portfolio). Fluent German is not required to start the position.
