Summary

King County’s Finance and Business Operations Division, Treasury section, is seeking a Fiscal Specialist 2 – Cashier!

Our ideal candidate is enthusiastic, customer service driven, a team player with a "can do" attitude who will stay calm under pressure handling a high volume of transactions while attentively listening and communicating clearly. Scope of Job Duties: To be considered for this opportunity, you must at a minimum, demonstrate knowledge, skill and ability to:


  • Collect and process cash, checks, cards, and other payments.
  • Post to the general ledger and reconcile collections against subsystems.
  • Verify the accuracy of tax payments with the amount owed, identify and correct errors in payment calculations, research discrepancies, and prepare tax refunds and payment returns.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate clearly and effectively with customers and co-workers.
  • Process, track, and notify taxpayers of returned checks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated recent experience processing high-volume financial transactions cash handling, including analyzing, researching, and solving customer issues while maintaining positive customer relationships.
  • Experience entering and reviewing numerical data entry with speed, accuracy, and great attention to detail while focusing on time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, writing, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to perform research, analyze and solve problems related to financial transactions. Ability to work individually and collaboratively as a team member.
  • Ability to think differently, are eager to try new things, and challenge yourself to improve processes.
  • Intermediate technology proficiency using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, in your daily work, such as mail merge through Excel and Word.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, writing and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage your time and adapt to changing priorities, work on multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, meet quick deadlines, and produce timely and quality work products
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.

We would love it if you have:
  • Experience with LEAN processes and principles
  • Experience with SharePoint, MS Teams and other collaborative online tools
The Finance and Business Operations Division's mission is to provide exceptional customer value for accounting, procurement, treasury, and small business services. We are actively seeking employees whose behavior is in alignment with our division's core values.
Other Position Information:
This position is Non-Exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore is overtime eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday, comprising a 35-hour workweek; normally 8:15 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is represented by Teamsters 117.

The work associated with this position will be 100% in office with in-person interactions. The position will work in the BRAND NEW Customer Service Center located in King Street Center.

Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
