PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Signing Bonus: New employees are eligible for a $5,000 bonus; with $2,500 paid on the first payroll, and $2,500 paid upon completion of six (6) month introductory period from hire date.
Salary will be commensurate with experience
The Hiring range for this position is $57,020.80- $71,276.00/Annually

OVERVIEW OF POSITION / DEPARTMENT
Performs a variety of accounting and administrative support work in monitoring, preparing, and maintaining payroll and other financial records and reports as a lead and mentor to Fleet accounting technician(s).

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitors departmental financial transactions

Prepares and distributes monthly financial reports: balancing and reconciling a variety of complex accounts, making journal entries, monitoring and maintaining computerized financial record-keeping systems

Coordinates and processes departmental purchasing functions

Reconciles monthly credit card statement

Reviews, verifies and processes accounting data

Prepares and processes bi-weekly department payroll

Input chip keys

Input driver IDs
-
Input purchase orders
-
Change orders
-
Orders office supplies
-
Reconcile E-470 toll bills
-
Coordinates with departments or divisions in gathering and processing financial and budget information

Utilizes software to create information, databases, spreadsheets, and reports for use in financial analysis

Responds to inquiries regarding payroll and benefits data, financial records, and accounts

Back up for systems analyst

Performs additional duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education:
-
Associate degree in accounting, business administration, public administration, or directly related field preferred.
Experience:
-
At least 2 years of administrative and analytical experience in budgeting and accounting or experience in a directly related area. An equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Knowledge:
-
Considerable knowledge of general accounting principles and practices;
-
Computerized accounting systems, payroll systems, and personal computers including word processing, database, graphic, and spreadsheet software applications.

May require knowledge of payroll processing and reporting procedures, purchase order encumbrance, and expenditure procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Primarily sedentary physical work requiring the ability to lift a maximum of 10 pounds; occasional lifting, carrying, walking, and standing; frequent hand/eye coordination to operate computer and office equipment; vision for reading, recording, and interpreting information; speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens.

Essential Personnel:

When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
