Do you have a passion for maintaining financial, accounting and grant support services? Grand Canyon University's Finance department is seeking a Grant Accountant who will continually seek to build efficiencies and improve processes to support the growth of the university. We are especially interested in applicants who can strengthen the diversity of our academic community and integrate faith.
What you will do:
  • Perform grant-related post-award functions, including budget and expense analysis, periodic invoicing, financial reporting, labor distribution changes, reconciliations, re-budgeting and grant closeout functions as required.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports on grant revenues/expenditures for internal management purposes and requisite donor reports.
  • Work with staff on salary allocations to grant expenses as required.
  • Review invoices and provide account codes, when appropriate, for proper grant accounting.
  • Produce budget and expense analysis reports.
  • Prepare and distribute periodic invoices for project reimbursement as required by the grant.
  • Communicate monthly financial results with appropriate grant program staff, informing them of financial position of the project.
  • Ensure compliance of grants donor rules/regulations.
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analysis in response to requests or to provide support to various programs.
  • Meet with various academic units in order to support financial management of grant-funded projects, conduct periodic compliance review of grant-funded projects, to include financial management overviews with responsible staff.
  • Support required audits.
  • Identify and recommend cost savings initiatives for program activities and the organization.
  • Update system designated for grants and gifts with demographic and biographical information
  • Review, reconcile and post uploaded pledge and payment batches meeting monthly and yearly deadlines
  • Process gifts that are allocated to University programs; maintain supporting documentation to gift transactions
  • Research files for development officers, individual donors and corporates when requested about contributions or accounts.
What you need:
  • BS Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant, progressively responsible experience in budget preparation, forecasting and financial reporting or substantial work experience in the Sponsored programs/Research Administration Field.
  • Work experience in higher education.
  • Work experience in the non-profit community and specifically with grant accounting.
  • CPA or CMA Licensure.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to provide a high level of customer service and establish and maintain effective interdepartmental communications and relationships.
  • Capable of managing numerous simultaneous projects.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University
