Job description
As a Field Technician/CQA Specialist, you will collaborate with a team of multi-disciplined engineers and scientist, project managers, and other staff to provide a wide range of field-based observation and testing services during the design, study, implementation, and/or construction phases of projects in a variety of industries to include solid waste, natural gas, renewable energy, mine & quarry, and development & construction. The Field Technician should have the desire and ability to travel and support a wide range of projects throughout the mid-Atlantic region.
Location: Hershey, PA
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform construction quality assurance / construction quality control field inspections to ensure methods, materials, and workmanship conform to established quality requirements, standards, and specifications.
- Collaborate with contractors, clients, and project managers to effectively review and solve problems that arise.
- Conduct material laboratory quality control testing.
- Perform infiltration testing, density, and observation of soil placement.
- Perform field testing of concrete, soil/aggregate/bituminous paving materials.
- Monitoring subsurface investigations including exploratory borings, geoprobing, and environmental sampling.
- Perform erosion and sediment control inspections.
- Prepare daily field reports and test summaries documenting the work being performed in a timely fashion.
- Reads and interprets engineering plans, maps, and specifications.
- Effectively communicate with key stake holders including project managers, project engineers, contractors and others depending on the project and job tasks.
Base Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Drivers License in good standing.
- Ability to drive a motor vehicle safely without restrictions on a daily basis.
- Ability to travel to and from job sites, including overnight stay.
- Experience using a Nuclear gauge testing device.
- Team orientated with the ability to perform independent hands-on fieldwork.
- A self-starter possessing strong verbal and written communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethic, and organizational skills.
Preferred Requirements:
- Two year vocational, or college degree.
- Nuclear gauge testing device certification.
Physical Requirements:
- This is a safety sensitive position.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely without restrictions on a daily basis.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools.
- Ability to frequently lift 30-60 lbs; occasionally lift 60-100 lbs.
- Ability to frequently carry 30-60 lbs. up to 30’; occasionally carry 60-100 lbs. up to 30’.
- Desire to work outside in all climates and conditions.
- Ability to walk and stand continuously throughout the day, often on uneven surfaces with frequent bending and stooping – 8-10 hours per day.
