Construction Field Technician – Job Description

Cornerstone Engineering Inc., an award-winning and fast-growing company, has an exciting opportunity for an Inspector role in the construction and engineering industry. A successful candidate must have a strong work ethic, communication skills, and integrity. The candidate should have the initiative to learn or has experience to perform quality checks at site, report to our clients, and coordinate with contractors to ensure construction and engineering related tasks are completed and documented accurately.

Job Responsibilities:

• Walk 4-8 miles per day and collect inventory of sidewalks and ADA access points
• Do field measurements and calculate slopes of the sidewalks
• Inspect work performed by contractor/s is in compliance with the contract.
• Collaborate with other field representatives or Project Managers
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents
• Review and Approve contractor invoices.
• Update client with weekly reports
• Be willing to learn and expand inspection knowledge in multiple disciplines of engineering and special inspections to ensure construction is in accordance with design documents, specifications, and approved shop drawings.
• Adhere to all safety standards and contractual commitments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Minimum Qualifications: 0-3 years of prior construction experience

• Must be physically capable to walk multiple miles per day and carry equipment
• Able to give direction and make decisions related to construction and engineering related tasks.
• Great verbal and written communication – will be interfacing with contractors, clients, and management.
• Self-motivated
• Interest in applying skills and experience to give back to the local community as opportunities arise.
• Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation. Mileage will be reimbursed. Required Skills and Abilities:
• Strong people and communication skills.
• Self-motivated with ability to lead in a team environment.
• Problem-solving skills. Ability to work in high-stress conditions and quickly changing environments
• Multi-tasking ability: prioritizing, organizing, and scheduling.
