COMPANY BACKGROUND

Vanguard Utility Services is a privately held company that is dedicated to the resourceful use of water. We have been delivering automated metering solutions to address the unique challenges facing the water industry for over 20 years.

DESCRIPTION:

Vanguard is seeking highly motivated and safety-conscious individuals to join its team. Vanguard Utility Service has partnered with Howard County, MD to install water meters within the County. This position is for someone who can go to account holders addresses and set up appointments for our technicians to perform meter change outs. An entire work day will consist of numerous locations within a couple mile radius.

· Read & record data information accurately in a mobile hand-held device, basic computer skills are helpful

· Follow standard operating procedures and company policies

· Communicate with utility customers effectively and respectfully

REQUIREMENTS:

• Previous similar work history preferred
• Able to bend, stoop, walk constantly and lift 40 lbs.
• Must be a self-starter with the ability to work alone 90% of the time, while still being part of a local team.
• Ability to assemble and disassemble plumbing components
• Must be able to work well with hand-held electronic devices.
• Must be able to work outdoors and withstand the regional, seasonal weather.
• Should have reliable transportation.
• Strong work ethic and dependable; Consistent attendance is imperative.
• Must have a valid driver's license & reliable work vehicle with current insurance.
• Must be drug-free, able to pass employment background check, and have a clean driving record.
• You must be able to pass the County's background check & become a badged County representative
• Appointment schedulers are required to use their own vehicles.
• Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers.
• Ability to organize and prioritize job tasks and requirements.
• Attention to detail and accuracy is a must.

It will be part time 3 days per week, 2 week days (10AM-7PM) & Saturdays (9AM-5PM).

You will also have the opportunity to cross train as an installer. This is NOT a sales position.
