Fed. Gov't Underground Utilities Construction Superintendent, SSHO & QCM
Job description
*Currently this project is projected to start April/May 2023*
The Construction Superintendent will serve as the onsite representation, onsite safety officer and will be the onsite construction management for B2 Constructors, who is the General Contractor on this Watermain replacement project. The superintendent will supervise and manage subcontractors, oversee the daily construction activities, provide guidance for subcontractors, maintain schedule, complete and submit daily reports, conduct safety audits, coordinate with the COR for the VA and A/E when on site, ensure a safe and secure worksite and proactively address problems. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Attending onsite meetings such as Weekly Progress Meetings, and often lead these meetings
- Thoroughly review project drawings and specifications to fully understand project scope, drawings, and schedule
- Enforce safety standards and protocols for anyone working onsite supporting the project
- Lead daily onsite safety and progress meetings
- Maintain safety audit reports and immediately address safety concerns throughout project execution, including Incident Reports for Safety Warning documentation
- Proactively develop, address and track RFI’s to keep construction moving without delays or stops
- Maintain full set of Redline As-Built drawings and drawing logs and ensure all field adjustments to completed Work is documented daily. Maintain this set of legal construction documents on site, always available for inspection by B2 Management or VA COR
- Maintain a current set of For Construction drawings along with revision logs, tracking any Amendments or Addenda that affects the Construction Set of drawings
- Maintain rolling B2 Punch List that clearly assigns responsibility and due dates
- Ensure subcontractors maintain Construction Schedule by spotting slippage and adjusting workflow when needed
- Work closely with subcontractors to document discrepancies with laborers and ensure daily time sheets are accurate
- Receive and inspect all material deliveries, documenting and reporting any discrepancies in quantities or damages in shipping
- Work with all Trades to complete Areas by section, completing the B2 Punch List for that section so that the VA COR can provide a Preliminary VA Punch List and Preliminary Sign-Off for more efficient Turnover at the end of the Project
- Responsible for overall onsite construction success to include adherence to schedule and specs, quality control, tracking change orders, communicating between COR, subcontractors, and B2 Constructors home office, daily reports, enforcing safety plan, shutdowns, disputes, commissioning, training, and handover
Requirements:
- MUST be very detailed oriented, have excellent communication skills and be able to utilize ProCore software to submit daily progress reports along with photos (emphasis on DETAILED)
- MUST be experienced in site prep/sitework construction, including underground utilities, electrical, traffic control, concrete, paving, striping, maintenance of traffic, landscaping, and general construction trades
- MUST be a self-starter and not require a management directive to accomplish their work, maintain a productive and safe worksite, lead subcontractors and produce a quality project on schedule, within budget and per the plans and specs
- MUST be able to think outside the box and bring a fresh mindset to address field issued, ensuring project is as successful, safe and as efficient as possible
- Proficient in ProCore and MS Office suite of programs, especially MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, and MS Project
- 7+ years commercial/industrial construction experience relevant to underground utility and paving construction
- OSHA 30 trained or the ability to become certified immediately (within 7 days of being hired)
- Consent to background investigation and drug screening
Preference:
- Federal Government general contracting experience
- VA Hospital general contracting experience to include VA safety, VA standards, and VA protocols, or experience with Corps of Engineers
- 5+ year Project Management experience
- Army Corps Quality Control Manager certified
Traveling Superintendents will be considered.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
