    Title: Elementary Academic Support Intervention Specialist - Title 1

    Building: Steele Elementary and Harvey Education Center / In- Person

    Job Goal: The Elementary Academic Support Instruction Specialist serves as support for students/staff to improve academic achievement in mathematics and ELA.

    Qualifications:
    Required:
    • Current Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate (K-5).
    • Demonstrate ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, building principals, and families.
    • Exhibit knowledge of current research in the areas of ELA, Mathematics, Interventions, Multi-Tiered-Systems-of-Support (MTSS), and Assessment.
    • Demonstrate technology competence.
    • Ability to interpret and use data to guide necessary student interventions.

    Desired:
    • ELA and Math Elementary Endorsements.
    • Experience with Skyward, Illuminate Education, and AIMS web
    • Preferred experience in a K-2 setting (or ZA/ZS Endorsement )
    • Knowledge of Child Development including Developmentally Appropriate Practice
    • In Depth Understanding of Early Literacy Essentials



    Responsibilities:
    • Coordinate elementary school math and ELA student interventions with building staff and the building principal.
    • Participate in building meetings, (student support team meetings, grade level meetings, staff meetings, and etc.) and determine student intervention(s).
    • Analyze student assessment data via regular progress monitoring of student achievement.
    • Deliver individual, small or large group interventions to students in Tier 2 and 3 who do not meet grade level expectations/common core state standards.
    • In-service paraprofessionals, parents, volunteers, administrators, and teachers on interventions when appropriate.
    • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, paraprofessionals, parents, building principal, and the reading teacher.
    • Supporting the district’s Kindergarten Students in the Harvey Education Center.
    • Maintain data using technology software to keep all progress monitoring data current.
    • Remain current with research-based strategies and interventions.
    • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
    • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
    • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning community both inside and outside the classroom.
    • Provide availability to students and parents for education-related purposes during and outside the instructional day.
    • Follow the goals of students with an IEP or 504 plan.
    • Other duties as assigned by the building principal.

    Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
    • This position requires long periods of standing, sitting, and walking.
    • The position requires occasional lifting of supplies and movement of classroom furnishings during the course of the school day.
    • Work takes place both indoors and outdoors, with some travel to other schools or field trip locations.

    Compensation: Per the MDMEA Agreement


    Schedule: Position begins 2023-2024 School year

    Status: Full- time (Steele Elementary 80% and Harvey Education Center 20%)
