Job Description
Imperia Engineering Partners is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design utility type projects such as high voltage substations, power plants and/or power delivery systems. Candidates must have experience working on multiple projects and are required to have 1+ years of electrical engineering experience.
Responsibilities:
  • Performs and/or checks electrical design calculations for electrical loads, short circuit and device coordination studies, voltage drop, etc. using standard electrical engineering software in accordance with applicable codes
  • Prepares, reviews, and/or interprets drawings, specifications and vendor submittals
  • Responds to client questions and comments
  • Performs field investigations and evaluations of existing electrical components/systems relative to condition/upgrade capacity and drawing compliance
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, with power related courses, required
  • 1+ years of experience as an electrical engineer in high voltage substations, electrical utilities or another related industry required
  • Must be experienced in participating on engineering teams and multiple projects
  • Ability to work well with supervisors, other electrical, mechanical, and civil/structural engineers, designers and CAD operators
  • Familiarization with field instrumentation and their application required
  • Familiarization with physical substation design methods and their application (i.e. substation buswork design; equipment egress/ingress; hardware selection and BOM)
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards and software programs, such as NESC, ASME, NEC, ANSI, IEEE. AISC, CYME and ETAP preferred
  • AutoCAD Skills a MUST
  • Candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills; supporting examples a plus
