Huntsman’s Advanced Materials Division is seeking a EHS Manager supporting our Site in Rock Hill, South Carolina. This position will report to EHS Regional Senior Manager.
The position exists to directly be responsible for how Huntsman Advanced Materials, Rock Hill Site conducts its business in accordance with all corporate and regulatory policies, procedures, and acts of law regarding the environment, health, and safety; and that the company is effectively providing an environmentally sound, safe, and healthy work environment for the employees of the Huntsman Advanced Materials, Rock Hill Site, and the extended neighboring community.
In summary, as the EHS Manager, you will be:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local and corporate environment, health, and safety standards such as, but not limited to; OSHA, Huntsman PSM, ACC Responsible Care, TSCA, DOT and EPA,
- Provides advice and counsel to plant management and acts as an advisor to the Plant Manager in all matters pertaining to environmental, health, safety, process safety, and security of the site,
- Directs the implementation of federal, state, and local governmental policies and regulations in matters of environmental compliance, health and safety and assures compliance in all matters under his/her direction,
- Deliver monthly and annual reports on site environmental performance (waste and emission data), personal safety and process safety performance in accordance with regulatory and corporate requirements,
- Continuously improves safety and environmental performance by investigating accidents, injuries, and hazards; builds rapport with local networks, agencies and supports improvement teams. Develops and maintains EHS improvement plans,
- Be accountable for overseeing site environmental compliance activities; this may include air, water, and waste requirements,
- Be a visible presence in the facility assessing compliance with safety, PSM and environmental requirements, utilizing coaching and mentoring skills drive EHS improvements,
- Be accountable for site EHS training, including employee orientation, contractor training, emergency drills, industrial hygiene, (behavioral based) safety and environmental training including SPCC, stormwater, emission events, and waste handling and disposal,
- Responsible for the preparation and timely submission of the environmental, health and safety expense, staffing, and capital budgets. Ensures that expenditures are appropriate and properly documented and within budget or appropriated amounts,
- In conjunction with managers and supervisors of other site departments, assists the Site Manager in setting site policies, practices, and procedures and in operating the plant so as to maximize profits,
- Performs as an active participate on the Site Leadership Team,
- Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor,
- Assists other employees in accomplishment of Huntsman company goals,
- Participates in and completes company-required training programs,
- Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Safety or Industrial Hygiene or related field (will substitute with 5+ years and master’s degree in same “Field of Study” above).
Experiences
- Must have 5+ years’ experience in the chemical industry,
- Experience in OSHA and Environmental Agency reporting,
- Experience with OHSA PSM, PHA, and MOCs,
- Experience with Behavioral Based Safety Systems desirable.
Skills & Knowledge
- Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft Office programs,
- Requires a broad knowledge of environmental, health, safety and process safety regulations and laws governing research and development facilities,
- Ability to coordinate the activities of environmental, industrial hygiene, safety and health personnel in all matters pertaining to the compliance status of the Site,
- Must have high technical and analytical abilities to identify environmental, health and safety trends and to act to meet these requirements with minimum disruption and expense.
- Requires tact and diplomacy in dealing with government representatives, press representatives, associates, and the general public.
