GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Performs complex (journey-level) social services work. Work involves serving as a liaison between clients and their families in obtaining assistance and rehabilitative treatment. May train others. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate high ethical standards, trustworthiness, and personal integrity. Regular attendance, dependability, and promptness are required to provide quality and consistent services to ECI children and families.
  • Interact effectively with all customers, internally as well as externally. Willing to accept coaching and constructive criticism from others while developing effective working relationships with all team members. Support team concepts and cooperate with others to achieve team objectives.
  • Evaluation/Assessment and Treatment planning Work as a strong and vital part of a transdisciplinary team to provide essential and in-depth input on the development of referred children 0-3 years. Use approved screening and evaluation tools, observation of developmental skills, and interview techniques with the family, to provide thorough and accurate assessment/evaluation and child outcome ratings. Develop, review, and/or update IFSPs along with the childs transdisciplinary team. Develop appropriate outcomes that address the childs needs and reflect the parents priorities and also include consideration of natural environments and child and family routines.
  • Specialized Skills Training -Provide support to parents on activities and strategies in the natural environment that will encourage the childs growth and development across all developmental domains using the coaching model of service delivery. Demonstrate competency in using the coaching, teaching and modeling strategies that strengthen the familys ability to support the developmental needs of their child. Competency is determined by review of all documentation, observation of services by program supervisors/trainers and family feedback.
  • Deliver a minimum of 75-80 hours of the planned services each month. During months that service providers do not have the target amount of services planned the performance requirement will be 80% of planned services delivered.
  • Ensure that each listed service, provided by the EIS begins within 28 days of the initial IFSP 100% of the time. Document efforts to overcome any barriers to the start of services in a timely manner.
  • Clearly, legibly and thoroughly document all services provided to include ongoing progress notes, case management notes, consultation notes, correspondence, and IFSPs.
  • Turn in documentation and other paperwork to include employee time sheets, expense voucher, and other employee and ECI child documentation by the due dates 100% of the time. Write the majority of progress notes in the home with input from the family. All notes must contain required elements.

  • Feedback from 95% of families served is positive. The feedback may be from parent satisfaction questionnaires sent out by the program, from phone calls or other contacts made by supervisors to families, and/or from family-initiated contacts with the program or the state office.
  • Participate in the Random Moment Time Study as required, including the required training.
  • Professional Development - This function requires the employee to successfully complete training and continuing education as required by professional standards and the Center in a timely manner. The employee will engage in learning opportunities and activities that enhance and improve their service delivery to children and families.
  • Support and mentor other ECI staff with processes and policies as needed. Contribute toward the training of parents and/or community members as appropriate.
  • Support program events such as Child Find activities and other special events.
  • Accept assignment of services to be provided in a language other than English as determined by the primary language of the referred/enrolled children and their routine caregivers as the needs arise. Provide support in the form of translation and interpretation to other team members serving these same children and families. Meeting this job requirement makes the staff member eligible for the bilingual stipend according to the PPM policy 205:2
  • Must stay compliant with all required training.
  • Frequent daily driving within the catchment area is required.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience/Education/Licensing/Certification
    • Must have a bachelor degree or have at least 18 hours of college credits relevant to Early Childhood Intervention, including 3 hours in Child Development.
    • Prefer experience with young children.
    • Degree in field related to early childhood intervention.

  • Additional Requirements
    • Must have and maintain a valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
