RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for keeping the truck clean and greased.
• Must maintain a clean driving record, proper driver’s license, and DOTD paperwork.
• Responsible for pick-up and delivery of construction materials, including dirt, stone, demolition debris, and asphalt using tandem dump trucks.
• Responsible for the safe and accurate loading and unloading of construction material to and from project locations in an effective and efficient manner.
• Responsible for positioning the truck in a manner that coincides with project personnel’s direction.
• Make deliveries and pick-ups in a timely manner.
• Drive truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and area roads.
• Position tarps secure cargo during transit.
• Inspect truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water.
• May prepare receipts for loads picked up and delivered.
• Safely move and position construction materials when the load is properly balanced and secured in accordance with company policy, and state, and federal regulations.
• Ensure proper maintenance of the vehicle and report improper operation, faulty equipment, and unusual conditions to the maintenance manager and supervisor.
• Maintain safety checklist, trip reports, and other required paperwork according to company policy, and state, and federal regulations.
• May maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
• Maintain excellent customer service skills by interacting in a cooperative, positive, and professional manner.
• Follow standard operating procedures.
• Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Must possess the proper state-required CDL driver’s license and successfully pass DMV audits.
• Must have an air brakes endorsement.
• Able to drive a standard/manual dump truck.
• Ability to read instructions, and numbers and write legibly.
• Ability to plan work.
• Ability to compare and see differences in the size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects.
• Experience in the movement of construction equipment.
• Proficient in basic reading, writing, addition, and subtraction.
• Must possess a strong work ethic.
• Must be able to always pass DOTD-controlled substance tests prior to and during employment.

Physical requirements:

• Manually lift/carry 50-100 lbs
• Stand and walk
• Sitting for long periods of time
• Carry tools/equipment
• Stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
• Perform all required tasks during extreme weather conditions (hot/cold)

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE

• Desired experience – At least 3 Years of Driving a Dump Truck Experience
• Must possess knowledge of DOTD Laws and Regulations
• Air Brakes Endorsement
• Defensive Driving Course
• Basic Truck Maintenance Course
• Time Keeping and Truck Tickets
