Cypress Employment Services has a client in Stockton AL in need of a Drill Press Operator.$16 - $22/hr
Drill Press Operator (Department: Finish End, Warehouses)
1. Check drill bits for sharpness.
2. Verify drill position and proper bit against supplied drawings for the sales order.
3. Remove steel bands from incoming packages of lumber.
4. Remove inventory tags and place in designated area. Verify contents and dimensions of incoming lumber against tag.
Work Environment: Open air warehouse, protected from rain; temperature ambient with outside; minimal dust from saw kerf or planer or saw shavings; noisy up to 110 decibels. Personal Protective Equipment: Safety shoes, work gloves, safety glasses and/or ear plugs (as required by location assignment), hard hat. Clothing appropriate for woodworking environment i.e. no loose jewelry or clothing which could be caught in a machine.
Knowledge: Various wood defects: knots, splits, wane, cup, rot, excessive sweep. Working knowledge of tilt hoists, transfer chains, foot pedals, operation switches.
Skills: Operate assigned piece of equipment. Operate strapping tool. Tally lumber legibly and accurately.
Abilities: Ability to operate assigned equipment properly. Ability to analyze minor mechanical or operational problems with equipment, in feed or out feed machines. Ability to communicate such analysis to Maintenance staff. Ability to tally lumber correctly; identifying thickness, width and length to 1/16 inch. Ability to legibly record tally and production information as required by position. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out daily production instructions. Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16". Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to report to all scheduled shifts in a timely, regular manner.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
