Posting Summary
The Director of The Mosaic Center for Students of Color (MCSC) is responsible for the development, assessment, and management of a full range of programmatic initiatives that support access, equity, and inclusion for racially/ethnically diverse and underrepresented students of color at the University of Vermont (UVM). The Director provides all operational leadership to all staff and oversees all administrative operations, including fiscal management and fundraising. This position provides leadership in addressing a variety of MCSC constituencies, covering a diverse set of concerns, promoting opportunities, and advancement of educational equity including a focus on student retention. The Director actively fosters and maintains collaboration within the Division of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) and with other UVM schools, colleges, divisions, and departments. The Director maintains up to date knowledge of intercultural, social justice, DEI issues, and policy reform especially in the area of higher education, through ongoing training and research. Reports to the Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (VPDEI).

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Master’s degree in relevant field and five to seven years professional experience in student administration, planning, program development, budget development, management, and supervision of professionals. Demonstrated experience working collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of higher education personnel, students, community, and broader public constituencies. Demonstrated success working with a range of culturally and ethnically diverse populations. Evidence of specific actions and history of commitment to foster a collaborative multicultural environment.

Desirable Qualifications
Master’s or Doctoral degree in relevant field with 8-12 years of professional experience leading and advancing student-centered DEI initiatives in higher education with demonstrated program implementation grounded in assessment-based best practices.
Direct experience working collaboratively with colleagues and students at the intersections of marginalized identities, such as ability status, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, class, and religious/spiritual identity.
Commitment to include international students in DEI-related programming and support resources.
Knowledge of cross-cultural / intercultural, identity development theories and best practices associated with implementation grounded in such theories.

Other Information
Probationary period of 6 months. Occasional evening/weekend hours required.
