Mercy Community Health is excited to announce that we are hiring a Director of Therapeutic School Based Counseling. Mercy has counselors in school systems in Williamson and Marshall Counties. The SBT Director will lead the school-based team of counselors in providing excellent care for students and faculty while achieving strategic objectives. The SBT Director will report to the CMO and Executive Leadership Team.

Mercy addresses mental health in our Departments of Psychiatry, Counseling and School based services.

What Is This Job All About?

  • Maintains a comprehensive system of management and leadership which includes strategic planning, program development, quality improvement and risk monitoring of clinical operations of the school-based therapist team of Mercy Community Health.
  • Oversees the school counseling centers. Supervises clinical leads and school counseling therapists in providing assessment, counseling, referral, placement, and related services to clients to ensure measurable treatment plans in accordance with state requirements.
  • Regularly meets with school-based therapists and clinical coordinators to provide technical guidance and direction to the team.
  • Provides clinical supervision to therapists and masters level counselors.
  • Provides regular written performance feedback to team members.
  • Promotes and encourages development and promotion of staff.
  • Resolves problems and mediates conflicts encountered during operations, determines appropriate solutions, and promotes teamwork and values of Mercy.
  • This role is primarily administrative, but director will maintain a caseload of individual clients.
  • Evaluates crisis situations and applies appropriate interventions and support.
  • Provides training and education to team members and the school community.
  • Participates in leadership activities at Mercy and represents Mercy in professional and community-based events and programs.
  • Completes needed documentation for state and federal certification and audits, as well as grant applications.
  • Providing culturally competent care integrating faith, beliefs, culture, and ethnicity.
  • Collaborating/consulting with primary care providers, specialists, therapists, care coordination, and outside agencies as indicated.
  • Ensures SBT team maintains documentation of mental health services in a timely manner including progress notes, tasks, collaborative discussions, testing and laboratory results, and other required information by the clinic, state, and third-party compliance standards.
  • Demonstrates Christ centered servant leadership with the goal of promoting the mission, vision, and values of Mercy Community Health.

What We Need from You:

  • Applicants must have an unrestricted license by the state of Tennessee as an LPC, LMFT or LCSW.
  • Minimum of five years clinical experience with two years in a leadership role is strongly preferred.
  • Experience is a school-based counselor is strongly preferred.
  • This is a full-time position. Position does require travel between schools. Mileage is reimbursable.
  • Previous work experience in a public health or community clinic setting preferred.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Spanish speaking is a plus.
