Position: Assistant Director of Financial Aid
Department: Office of Financial Aid
Stevens Institute of Technology invites qualified professionals to apply for the position of Assistant Director of Financial Aid. Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Financial Aid – Student Services & Recruitment, this is a key staff member in our department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Counsels students and families regarding all aspects of financial aid and financial planning.
- Revise existing awards to reflect changes in eligibility or allowable budget adjustments.
- Exercise professional judgment in adjusting a student's application to accommodate documented, qualifying special circumstances.
- Reviews applications and determines financial aid awards for new and returning students.
- Manages and reconciles institutional endowed and private scholarship awards
- Performs Title IV verification, professional judgment reviews and dependency overrides.
- Performs Return of Title IV funds calculations and related tasks
- Knowledge of federal database applications, including FAA Access to CPS Online, Common Origination and Disbursement (COD), National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) and ED Express.
- Knowledge of common personal computer applications including, but not limited to, MS Outlook and MS Office: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Evening and weekend hours as required.
- Other duties as assigned
Applicants should have two to four years of experience in a Financial Aid Office, and a Bachelor's Degree is required. We are seeking someone who is dedicated to providing quality service to students and families, is comfortable in an automated, multi-tasking, detail-oriented position, has strong problem-solving skills, and has had experience managing at least one financial aid program. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with an eye on the ever-changing financial aid landscape, comprehensive knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations, excellent computer skills and proficiency in applications and task management and communication skills. Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and oral and written skills are required.
