WHAT YOU WILL DO
- The Director of Commissioning will oversee and provide commissioning services for projects primarily on the West Coast. you will grow the commissioning business in our Carlsbad, CA office.
- Projects may range from small infrastructure upgrades (i.e., new AHUs, emergency generators, boilers, chillers, etc.), facility renovation/fit-out projects (facility CX or CQV), and full CQV of new facilities.
- Follow Genesis and client standards and requirements, overall good industry practices for CQV services and regulatory requirements. Interfaces directly with clients in the delivery of projects including routine communications, leading project meetings, tracking and reporting project metrics (financial and deliverables), self-directing and directing an assigned project team, maintaining positive client relationships, etc.
- May also manage and perform standalone commissioning services for projects outside of the life sciences sector such as Healthcare or Higher Ed.
As
Director of Commissioning, you will be part of a 40+ person national team and be responsible to:
- Write proposals for new projects.
- Look for marketing opportunities with current and potential clients.
- Work with our Carlsbad A/E staff to find commissioning opportunities.
- Attend industry events.
- Recruit CQV staff
- Oversee CQV projects from the financial, schedule, and quality standpoints for all CQV projects operated out of the Carlsbad office or as assigned.
- Directly responsible for the successful delivery of CQV projects to clients that are assigned out of the Carlsbad, CA office
- Monitor project financials weekly.
- Report financial or quality issues to Genesis management.
- Report financial or scope issues to customers.
- Identify, negotiate, and write change orders on projects.
- Develop staff and project schedules as needed.
- Responsible for ensuring staff utilization targets are met.
- Serve as point of contact to clients for overall project delivery.
- Provide consistent, complete, and timely feedback and reports to clients or management of project status and issues.
- Develop project schedules, deliverable tracking reports, scope adjustment notices, etc.
- Support other project leads/managers to assist CQV work on other projects.
- Support, train, and guide less experienced commissioning engineers.
- Work with Genesis department leadership to develop and improve commissioning processes including documentation standards and procedures.
- Work with Genesis department Cx Alloy lead to develop and improve commissioning procedures.
- Support all aspects of project delivery and execution as required. This may include writing and executing test plans and other documentation on a project.
- Assume responsibility for project turnover.
- Follow Genesis practices for commissioning as well as industry standard practices outlined in guidelines such as ASHRAE, ISPE, and LEED.
- Visit active construction sites, complete site safety training, and adhere to site safety rules.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in the field of commissioning.
- B.S. or A.S. degree in engineering or a related discipline or an equivalent technical degree
- Demonstrated strengths in HVAC, BAS, and/or Electrical Systems
- Able to commute to multiple job sites during the workweek
- Overnight travel may be required. The maximum travel expected outside of the daily commute range is up to 30%.
- The position will visit Client sites and must adhere to stated safety rules.
- Visit active construction sites and must take site safety training and adhere to site safety rules.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong computer skills, proficient with MS office applications
- Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated ability to execute projects on time and on budget
- Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize multiple projects and adjust work against tight deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Microsoft Project
- Experience with Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Life Science, Healthcare, or Laboratory industries
