- Prefer prior experience (1-2 years) leading a children’s ministry at a church of comparable size.

Highland United Methodist Church has a staff opening for a part-time (20-25 hours per week) for Director of Children’s Ministry beginning May 1st. We are seeking a person of faith and who has a strong commitment to the spiritual development of children. The individual should be a person of Christian faith, energetic, outgoing, able to work closely with other staff members and one who loves children. Job responsibilities include providing planning and implementation/oversight to all aspects of the church’s ministry to children (Nursery – 5th grade). Specific duties include:
· Attendance in both Sunday worship services (9:30am and 11:00am)
· Overseeing Nursery (hiring and scheduling Attendants)
· Overseeing Sunday School programming (Pre-School – 5th grade)
· Providing leadership for the Children’s Church program during both worship services.
· Creating and conducting a Wednesday evening program for children
· Recruiting volunteers and developing leaders in the children’s area
· Engage in strategic planning for children’s ministry in our church (which would include outreach to the unchurched)
· Planning and implementing the annual Vacation Bible School and other annual events on the church calendar.
Required skills include: a spiritual calling to children’s ministry, strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate volunteers, communication skills with children and parents, computer proficiency and a desire to serve the body of Christ. College graduate and training and/or experience in children’s ministry or Christian Education is preferred. Will require a background check and training in “Safe Sanctuaries” (child protection training). Part-time salary commensurate with experience and training.
