Director, Mason Learning Into Future Environments ( LIFE )
The George Mason University College of Education and Human Development, seeks an experienced educator to become the next Director of the Mason LIFE Program (MLP) with responsibility for overall leadership and management of the program. Mason LIFE is a program in the School of Education’s Division of Special Education and disAbility Research.
MLP is an inclusive, supportive, post-secondary program offering a four-year curriculum to students with intellectual and developmental disabilities who begin the program between 18-23 years of age. The Director of MLP will supervise all aspects of Mason LIFE, including the Academic, Employment, Housing, and Community Involvement components of the program.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing program leadership by identifying trends within the inclusive postsecondary field; overseeing the recruitment, application, acceptance and review process of incoming students; communicating and collaborating with university partners and external stakeholders; conducting on-going program evaluation and providing written status reports to leadership as needed; coordinating research requests; and participating in public speaking engagements to promote Mason LIFE. Additionally, the candidate will provide overall personnel management of staff that will include recruiting, hiring, and supervising of professional and support staff; and provide resource management by developing, monitoring, and providing budget planning and fiscal management. When applicable, the candidate will identify and prepare grant proposals when funding is available. The candidate will manage crisis situations, in partnership with all stakeholders, as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must have earned a master’s degree in Special Education or related field from an accredited institution. The Director must have evidence of demonstrated (typically 3+ years) professional level experience in a postsecondary inclusive higher education setting, supervision of professional-level staff, experience in policy development, and experience handling crisis management/conflict resolution.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications include a doctoral degree in Special Education or related field, and experience in budget oversight, grant writing/management, and research project administration.
