About This Role

We are looking for a Manager of Portfolio Rebalancing and Analysis to join our quantitative portfolio management team. The Manager of Portfolio Rebalancing and Analysis will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Aperio’s portfolio rebalancing and analysis efforts.

The Manager of Portfolio Rebalancing and Analysis will also be responsible for managing teams of portfolio managers and supporting them on complicated portfolio implementations, as well as on complex quantitative investment strategy analyses. The portfolio managers work with leading-edge portfolio risk and optimization technologies which the Manager of Portfolio Rebalancing and Analysis needs to understand at a detailed and comprehensive level. Ideal candidates must have excellent problem-solving skills, a high degree of attention to detail and strong organizational and management skills. The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work directly with clients on complicated tax and risk modeling problems. The candidate must be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a time sensitive environment. The person should have initiative and be comfortable taking on responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, train, and develop portfolio managers and associate portfolio managers
  • Manage and monitor the assignment of all day-to-day portfolio rebalancings and quantitative analyses
  • Manage and meet all quarterly portfolio rebalancing targets and quantitative analyses SLAs
  • Maintain and service relationships with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders
  • Develop and implement improvements to the investment processes and daily workflows
  • Develop team to handle significant growth, reduce errors, and improve team and client experience
  • Focus on efficiencies and scalability while maintaining strong, highly human client service culture
  • Grow, mentor, and coach teams to retain team members and provide opportunities for learning and career development
  • Develop strong cross functional relationships, including with Operations, Client On-Boarding, Business Development, Process Engineering, Systems, Compliance, and Legal
  • Comprehend and augment the use quantitative risk models/optimization algorithms
  • Manage large scale portfolio transitions and client investment strategy implementations
  • Understand business objectives to ensure that the team structure evolves to best support and fit with the changing nature of the business
  • Collaborate on and contribute to the development of next generation, fully integrated cross-BlackRock SMA platforms
  • Strong problem solver with the ability to implement short-term “fixes” and long-term improvements
  • Ability to define problems/goals, assess trade-offs of possible solutions, make decisions, and communicate effectively
  • Be entrepreneurial while understanding how to navigate the complexities of a large and growing organization
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices including within BlackRock and evolve portfolio management functions to take advantage of learnings

Qualifications:

  • Ten plus years of portfolio management experience
  • Strong management and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to develop and implement complex and scalable portfolio management systems
  • Experience working with process engineering and systems development teams on process improvements and automation
  • Experience developing, implementing, managing, and improving complex operational workflows with an emphasis on scalability and straight-though processing
  • Experience with implementing SMA/UMA platforms
  • Knowledge of broader securities markets and products including modern portfolio theory and its applications
  • Experience with multi-factor risk models and portfolio optimization algorithms (Barra Preferred)
  • Excellent analytical/problem solving and computer skills with emphasis on quantitative analysis
  • Data driven and metrics oriented
  • Experience in high growth and fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and emphasis on risk management
  • Demonstrated initiative, perspective, creativity, and good quantitative intuition
  • Excellent communication skills
  • BA/BS required (Masters or CFA preferred)
  • Experience with Barra, Salesforce, and Aladdin a plus
  • Experience managing quantitative tax managed equity strategies a plus
  • Experience managing Index, Factor-Tilted, and ESG portfolios a plus
  • Experience managing long/short equity portfolios a plus

For California only the salary range for this position is $199,500 – $240,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model

BlackRock’s current hybrid work model is designed to enable in-person connections and collaboration that is core to our culture, while supporting increased flexibility for all employees.
