Job Summary
Directs creative services for Spectrum Health System Communications (SC&M). Responsibilities include supervision of advertising and marketing communications campaigns, graphic design and production services, photography, video, illustration, and other creative. Works with SC&M directors and consultants to oversee production of a variety of internal and external Spectrum Health communications. Serves as brand steward, monitors and maintains brand guidelines and digital assets, and helps to ensure consistency in art direction and design across all areas of the institution. Provides brand leadership to SC&M staff and contracted designers, agencies and photographers.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for managing the Spectrum Health brand, directing its use as it relates to marketing, communications, advertising, architectural environments, exterior and interior signage, employee orientation and training, and any other interface that creates and builds the Spectrum experience for the public, our employees, and our patients.
- Develops strategies, solutions, and standards for various aspects of the branding program. Resolves branding issues and interprets branding policy. Coordinates branding between and among the various entities of the organization, and arbitrates branding conflicts.
- Works with Directors of SHHG and SHMG to create effective marketing planning and execution at new and existing entities.
- Directs and oversees the art direction of strategic advertising campaigns and communications projects for Spectrum Health. Works with marketing and communications staff members, and outside advertising agency and vendors to assess design needs, evaluate project requests and develop creative solutions that meet strategic organizational and departmental objectives.
- Directs and manages the activities of professional and support staff. Facilitates the training and continuing education of staff members. Provides direction and support to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Selects, trains, develops and evaluates subordinates and initiates personnel actions in accordance with departmental policies and organization philosophy.
- Directs the selection, training and education of all vendor activity related to the brand. Participates in vendor selection and assessment related to design and production needs. Provides creative direction for projects including print collateral, direct mail, newsletters, promotional items, photography and video. Ensures that quality standards are met for all digital and offset printing.
- Maintains corporate and entity branding standards across all organizational communications as appropriate, utilizing tools like Brandsite, to ensure compliance with all Spectrum Health brands. Directs the brand integration of new entities as they join Spectrum Health. This includes directing communications and marketing staff as new entity brand rollout communication occurs. Works collaboratively with other directors and vice president.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree graphic design or related field -Required
- Master's Degree MBA or other advanced degree directly related to Marketing and Communications-Preferred
- 12 years of experience managing creative services and production in large company with demonstrated ability to manage corporate identity, with 5 years of leadership experience Required
- Background in health care communications, preferably with a large health care system Preferred
- Experience in brand positioning in large organization - Preferred
- Change management and experience working with stakeholders - Preferred
- Experience in working across the organization to connect the dots in brand and unite pieces of the organization - Preferred
