Job description

The Dietary Aide/Prep Cook will serve food from Dietary and in dining areas, runs, dish machine, maintains clean serving ware and equipment, and assists co-workers with all daily work of the dietary department. Will also fill in as prep/cafe help when needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required.

• Assist serving meals and clearing dining areas.
• Clean equipment and storage areas.
• Prepare, portion, label, and serve salads, desserts, beverages, and other foods according to SMC daily production guides.
• Work on tray line using diet cards and patient diet orders to tray and deliver appropriate meals for patient’s diet order.
• Empty garbage.
• Set and clean tables and other serving areas.
• Assist co-workers with duties for efficient and timely meal service and maintenance of a clean department
• Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE*

Knowledge of dietary needs and confidentiality of HIPPA regulations required.

Previous healthcare and dietary work experience preferred.
