Gorton Center is seeking a motivated and collaborative Development Associate who wants to be part of the organization’s growth and evolution as a key cultural and educational asset to the region.

The Development Associate will assist in all areas of fundraising at Gorton Center, with particular focus on Annual Fund mailings, donor recognition, management of the database, and other administrative tasks associated with Annual Fund and Major Gift Campaigns.

Job Type: This is a 25-hour a week position onsite at Gorton Center and will include some evening and weekend hours.

Reports to: The Director of Development

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Annual Fund mailings and the gift recognition process.
• Manage stewardship initiatives and communications, including but not limited to: donor recognition events, use of Gorton media wall, and annual recognition of donors.
• Lead management of the database and reporting process.
• Create and implement a program book advertisement campaign.
• Assist with grant writing.
• On occasion, attend various programs and events both at Gorton and around Lake Forest/Lake Bluff.

Skills and Experience

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong technology skills and expertise in database management with programs like OvationTIX.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to take direction and follow through with minimal oversight.
• Knowledge of grant making processes.
• Knowledge of Lake Forest/Lake Bluff communities.
• Experience securing corporate or foundation sponsorship, a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• 1 to 3 years development operations or coordination experience
