Actalent Services is hiring an IT Support professional (system administrator / desktop support technician) for a fulltime, internal role supporting our engineering services division.

The System Administrator (SA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure for our engineering and sciences professionals. This individual participates in Actalent's continuing innovation within infrastructure including recommendation and decision making on systems adhering to organizational values. Additionally, the SA will consult with customers and Actalent's technical managers to make informed recommendations/decisions on hardware and software meeting specification and performance criteria. The SA ultimately ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff and Partners.

This position offers hybrid flexibility to individuals local to our engineering services centers near Troy MI, Louisville KY, or New Albany OH.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years Desktop support experience (Windows)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience supporting CAD / engineering software
  • Experience working on Windows 10/11 and Windows server Operating system
  • Experience creating and deploying images for new Windows PC's
  • Experience using IT service management tools
  • Working knowledge of Network technology, IP Addressing, DHCP and DNS, Network File servers, Windows Active directory and Group policies
  • Experience using ticketing system to handle user requests
  • Experience scheduling new deployments and upgrades
  • Ability to coordinate with SW vendor for software and products support
  • Ability to understand & map client’s requirements/ enhancements to provide technical solutions
  • Scripting and programing skills will be a plus
  • Occasional travel (5-10%) for job related responsibilities or office meetings
  • Experience in working on global teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and customer service mindset
  • Ability to lift/move computer equipment - weighing up to 25-30 lbs.

Essential Functions

System Provisioning

  • Install new/rebuild existing servers/Workstations/laptops and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Install and configure various software applications
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures
  • Set up printers and plotters as per Engineering application needs
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards
  • Deploy and maintain customer configuration database for critical applications

Operations and Support

  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary. Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted stakeholders
  • Co-ordinate with customer IT teams for application access requests and problem resolutions
  • Co-ordinate and help Network Operations team for network and telecom outage
  • Identify and create a test plan for new technology and systems
  • Create, enforce, and maintain IT Security standards for all IT assets

Maintenance

  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary
  • Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures
  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required
  • Manage IT Assets, including request and report renewals for HW-SW maintenance

Pay: $45,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
