Counter Attendants/Baristas – FT and PT/Year-round and Seasonal Opportunities at The Black Dog Bakery Café and Water Street Bakery

Pay starting at $15/hour with total wage potential of $25 to $30/hour with tips!

We’re seeking Counter Attendants/Baristas to provide excellent service to our guests!

Counter Attendant/Barista Qualifications:

• Minimum of one-year experience preferred
• Actively support a culture of safety which includes food safety, team member safety and customer safety
• Strong customer service skills; friendly and positive attitude
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Availability to work early mornings, days, evenings, and weekends

Counter Attendant Job Responsibilities:

• Welcome guests
• Describe food items on menu
• Assist guests with takeout orders
• Answer phones, answer questions regarding menu items, and assist with take-out orders
• Keep all work areas clean, including display cases, counters, and floors
• Use POS system and successfully balance cash and coin
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Barista Job Responsibilities:

• Prepares drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques
• Maintains inventory by replenishing coffee supplies
• Maintains espresso and coffee equipment
• Performs other related duties as assigned

The Black Dog Bakery Café, newly renovated, offers a full breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. We offer plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with a full beer and wine menu. In addition, the Cafe also serves homemade-from-scratch pastries, desserts, cookies, cakes, pies, and more. Enjoy an espresso or specialty coffee to complement our famous baked goods.

Opened in 1973, the Water Street Bakery took up residence in the former Vineyard Haven Firehouse as a solution to the Tavern’s dessert needs. The Water Street Bakery was also where the first Black Dog t-shirts were sold. On-the-go meal options include freshly made sandwiches, soups, clam chowder, and our famous Breakfast Woofer Sandwich. In keeping with tradition, our iconic t-shirts, along with a wide selection of Black Dog classics, are also available for purchase.
