HERCO is looking for an Entry-Level or experienced results-oriented, self-starter who can develop efficient PLC code from scratch and commission units into production. You’ll be working alongside HERCO’s Mechanical, Electrical Engineers and Service Technicians. HERCO is solid in creating new and existing capital equipment for the die-cast sector in the automotive manufacturing industry.

What is your typical day like?

  • For Entry-Level or experienced candidate who provide software design as required for controls systems including PLC logic development or PC based control programming and HMI development.
  • Perform pre-approval checks on software designs before submittal.
  • Establish solid communication between PLC, HMIs, and any included peripherals.
  • Perform Field I/O confirmation using Ethernet/IP or other communication mediums.
  • Commission software onsite from HQ in Auburn Hills, MI 75%+ a month.
  • Provide start-up/de-bug assistance during build and tryout.
  • Able to wire industrial panels, help build the electrical portion of new equipment.
  • Work with multiple internal teams to develop standard methods and designs for better efficiency and operation on next generation equipment.
  • Building internal teams’ knowledge of advancing technology, and changing designs, utilizing new Smart HMIs and online OPC UA communication standards.

What HERCO expects from you:

  • Engineering degree, non-negotiable.
  • Open to Entry-level.
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Siemens and/or Allen Bradley PLC hardware or other software design experience with the ability to effectively change or add programming for better HMI functionality.
  • Strong communications skills with the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ideally, HERCO would like you onsite at our new facility in Auburn Hills, MI helping refurbish as well as assisting the design engineers on the newest release of HERCO’s creations. Availability to travel to customer in the Eastern Time Zone in North America and Canada, without restrictions, might be necessary for projects but not to exceed 25% in a month.
  • Current passport required. New application must be completed within 30 days of hire.
  • Various administrative duties subject to change.
