Job Summary
The
Construction Laborer is responsible for preparing and cleaning construction sites, loading and unloading building materials to be used, operating equipment and machines, and helping craft workers with their duties. This position supports the Construction team and works with personnel within the department.
- Clean and prepare the construction site for work, removing debris and possible hazards.
- Identify utilities and watch dig crew dig to prevent utility hits.
- Operate hand and/or power tools (hammers, sledgehammer, pry bars, screw drivers, etc.).
- Hand digging trench with shovels for placement of conduit and live utility services.
- Use asphalt saw and quickie saw.
- Load and unload miscellaneous materials – lumber, plywood, cement bags, etc.
- Perform other labor-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- High school diploma, or equivalent.
- Current and valid state Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of laborer experience.
- OSHA 10 certification.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
