Our company supports people with disabilities in community-based day program settings. Our paid orientation, which will be a combination of remote and in-person learning, starts on Monday, May 1st and runs through May 16th. Applicants must have a computer and reliable internet access to attend.

We are seeking the following:

Full-Time and Part-time Community Support Specialists to join our team. Pay is $16 per hour, with Monday-Friday 8am-4pm shifts available at our Woodbridge and Lorton locations. Candidates will also have the option of picking up additional hours in the evenings and weekends at our sister company that runs group homes!

Job Responsibilities:

• Provides support as necessary to ensure needs as identified by the individual and his/her Inter-Disciplinary Team are met.
• Communicates and coordinates with families, members of the Inter-Disciplinary Team (IDT), the individual’s day program and other providers of services and supports as necessary and appropriate
• Assists individuals by identifying and meeting social, environmental and health care needs and providing personal care when appropriate and ensuring the health and safety of the individuals
• Engages individuals with respect, modeling appropriateness at all times
• Assists individuals to develop daily living skills by identifying and meeting social, environmental and health care needs through person-centered planning and self-determination
• Monitors individuals to ensure they take medication as prescribed and teaches them how to take medication independently, may assist with medication administration when out in the community with the individual at a time when medication is to be taken
• Performs crisis intervention; provides emergency counseling and assistance
• Plan, coordinates and participates with individuals in person-centered community inclusion and leisure activities
• Safely transports individuals into the community to ensure that all activities are completed appropriately
• Communicates and documents activities, progress and behaviors of individuals as appropriate

Ability to support with people with behavioral and medical needs is required. Computer and writing skills are highly preferred. All candidates will be required to attend a paid two-week orientation starting May 1st, part of which will take place at our main office in Dumfries. The orientation runs Monday-Friday 9:30am-3:30pm.
