Summit Credit Union, voted a top work place, has an exciting opportunity to join our growing team as a Commercial Loan Servicing Specialist within our West Bend location. This individual will work with commercial loans by performing daily booking and servicing tasks, working on projects, communicating with members, Loan Officers and Loan Operations department staff to ensure loans are booked accurately and timely and that payments, payoffs, new loans, renewals, escrows, ticklers, loan files, final titles, liens, loan maintenance and other post-closing loan related items are properly processed and maintained to ensure accurate member records and regulatory requirements are met.

Essential Functions

  • Assists in maintaining loan files, loan systems and tracking logs to make sure that loans are documented accurately and according to regulations and underwriting requirements to maintain a secure loan portfolio.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate member records and loan system by setting up new loans, processing loan renewals, payments, draw requests, payoffs, participation payments, performing loan system maintenance, reviewing maintenance error reports, and helping ensure that the loan systems is in balance.
  • Works with the Loan Officers and third-party vendors to help maintain and keep outstanding loan ticklers to a minimum.
  • Assists in processing and maintaining loan escrows with the assistance of processing hazard insurance payments, tax escrow disbursements, private mortgage insurance disbursements, escrow analysis, and delinquent real estate tax monitoring.
  • Performs audits of new loans and loan maintenance to assure member records are maintained according to file documentation and regulatory requirements. Indexes loan documents into the system making sure all documents are signed, accurate, and scanned into the correct folders.
  • Assists in the daily processing of secondary market mortgage payments and related investor reporting.
  • Assists in the maintenance and government reporting of SBA loans. Answers member and banker questions about existing loans.

  • Assist with additional projects and other duties as assigned by departmental leadership.

Job Specifications

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); and
  • Two or more years of loan system or loan operations experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a variety of people, both written and verbal.
  • Thorough understanding of loan systems, loan documentation, and lending regulations.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and organize work effectively.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet time deadlines.
  • Ability to make logical decisions and carry out decisions made.
  • Ability to work effectively and non-defensively with a variety of personalities.
  • Enjoys working with customers and demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills,
  • Working knowledge of mortgage loan origination system.
  • Close attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to be an attentive and active listener.
  • Can work effectively and efficiently, both individually and as a team contributor.
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality with all information obtained.
  • Promotes the Credit Union’s products and services.
  • Contributes to the fulfillment of Credit Union goals and objectives.
  • Must have strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be knowledgeable of regulations and follow policies and procedures to assure proper documentation and compliance with regulations.
