GENERAL:
Employee will program and operate a computerized, 4-axis Hot-Wire cutting machine to cut styofoam patterns that are later used in the Fiberglass mold making process for the production of Terra-form and Precast Concrete products. In addition to the above, individual will perform other support functions necessary such as sanding, shaping, epoxy coating, etc. to provide an accurate pattern for the lamination of a Fiberglass Mold.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
Machine Programming - Employee reviews production paperwork/schedule to determine production priorities and pattern/mold build requirements and works with supervisor and sales/project management personnel to address pattern concerns and answer questions. Employee uses a computer application to input measurements and data which is used by the Hot-Wire machine to cut Styrafoam shapes.
Machine Operation- Employee will determine material needs and load proper shape/amount of styrafoam billet on to the hot-wire cutting machine bed. Employee works to adjust and set up machine to a proper semi-automatic operation. Once cutting begins, employee monitors cutting process and makes additional adjustments or changes as needed.
Finishing- Once machine/rough cutting is complete, Employee uses sanders and other hand tools to smooth surfaces and finish the mold pattern. Employee may be required to add additional detail to the pattern by hand where the hot-wire machine could not complete.
Coating - Once shaping is complete employee will prepare the pattern for the fiberglass mold making process. The pattern is completely covered with an epoxy resin coating. This coating will need to be sanded and finished. This is typically the last step in the process and normal job responsibilities of the Hot Wire Machine Operator.
Other - In addition to above processes/sub-tasks, employee will perform various other cleaning, organizing or restocking duties. Cleaning includes wiping down tables, tools and equipment and sweeping. Employee will use a a wire cutter to cut scrap into smaller pieces for recycling. In addition, some larger equipment such as pattern lathe, overhead crane, etc. may be used. Tools are maintained and properly placed away for storage.
Physical Requirements:
Includes but is not limited to, prolonged periods of standing, working on a computer, bending, reaching, stretching, lifting, walking, twisting, squattingand kneeling. Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers, knees, back shoulders and neck. Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and the like.

*Shift differential of $1.50 per hour for 2nd and 3rd shift positions.
