Job description
The Resource Clinical Educator reports to the Manager for the Center of Professional Practice and Innovation (CPPI) and functions as a unit-based resource clinical expert to the inpatient units by assisting with evaluating patient care practices staff development and required educational trainings/certifications.
Responsibilities:
The Resource Clinical Educator in this position shall not assume a patient assignment but may take a temporary patient assignment (such as for imaging and transfers to other units and during rapid responses). The Resource Clinical Educator may assist RNs with providing care as distinct from taking the patient assignment.
Collaborates with the CPPI Manager and Unit Management to execute the department(s) quality plan and goals for assigned areas that are aligned with the hospital�s overall initiatives
Assists nursing staff with procedures policies and care of patients on the inpatient floors. Work closely with nursing staff to develop an environment that promotes staff growth role competency and proficiency in nursing skills/critical thinking
Tracks and monitors new nursing staff progress during the orientation period to promote RN professionalism and provide guidance to the Novice RN.
Assesses learning needs of nursing staff on a continual basis. Plans develops delivers and tracks successful staff completion of required unit and hospital competencies and provides �just-in-time� education for individuals and groups to maintain a culture of quality and safety
Assists with the introduction and integration of new patient care technology and equipment.
Assists in emergent procedure as skills allow on assigned units.
Round frequently on assigned inpatient units and act as a resource for staff.
Work with staff to improve patient experience.
Other information:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required. Master�s Degree in Nursing preferred.
Must have current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Certification in specialty area preferred or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
Maintains current AHA BLS. AHA ACLS required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire
Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 2-3 years relevant clinical experience in hospital setting with demonstrated teaching/leadership and communication skills. Experience as a Charge RN and Preceptor RN preferred. Previous teaching experience in clinical settings preferred.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
General hospital environment with occasional stressful conditions associated with patient care.Position requires frequent standing walking and sitting.
