CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST/MILIEU COUNSELOR As a member of a three-person, multidisciplinary classroom team, the Classroom Behavior Specialist/Milieu Counselor ensures that students are assisted using effective behavioral support strategies. The Classroom Behavior Specialist/Milieu Counselor utilizes positive behavior interventions, behavior analytic principles, and strong relationships to support students in all daily activities. This individual provides active supervision both within and outside of the classroom, models social interactions between students, and intervenes effectively in periods of behavioral dysregulation. Additionally, the Classroom Behavior Specialist/Milieu Counselor collects and analyzes daily behavioral data, completes necessary reports, and collaborates in the implementation of behavior support plans.Working with a classroom team made up of a Special Education Teacher and Assistant Teacher, the Classroom Behavior Specialist/Milieu Counselor creates a respectful, safe, and inclusive environment for the six to ten students in their classroom. This self-motivated individual communicates clearly, maintains calm, and has an enthusiastic approach to their work. ABOUT MANVILLE SCHOOL Manville School, a program of the Baker Center for Children and Families, is a therapeutic day school providing special education, clinical, and behavioral support for students in kindergarten through tenth grade with complex social-emotional, behavioral, and learning needs.
Manville provides services for up to 115 students from over 50 school districts in the greater Boston area, and has approximately 100 educational, clinical, and behavioral staff members. Manville integrates comprehensive, evidence-based clinical services, innovative educational programming, and tiered behavioral supports to ensure that students with unique needs experience social-emotional development and academic success.
