Full-time position available with the Water Department, Wastewater Treatment Division located at 7300 Hawthorne Rd.
Salary Range: $29.98-$44.97/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 3:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Supervises and participates in the operation of one or more major treatment facilities and multiple pumping stations and flood pumping stations.
- Establishes operating procedures on an assigned shift for the efficient operation of wastewater facilities.
- Supervises and participates in troubleshooting problems with processes and equipment.
- Ensures proper priority is assigned to repair work by maintenance crews and operational records are accurate, complete and up-to-date.
- Ensures that sample collection and handling is performed in accordance with NPDES permit requirements and sound scientific practices.
- Trains plant operators and develops specific plans for career development of employees under their supervision.
- Provides safety training and ensures that safe work practices are strictly adhered to.
- Provides knowledge of the operational principles and practices of the treatment facilities to which assigned.
- Provides considerable knowledge of pump station operation and maintenance (all types), laboratory analysis procedures and interpretation of results.
- Provides knowledge of supervision principles and techniques, personnel rules and regulations and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and general purchasing procedures.
- Enforces city policies and work rules and performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
REQUIRES high school graduation and 1 year of experience at the level of the City's Senior Plant Operator. Must possess a valid State issued driver’s license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. Must possess an A-level operator certification in waste/wastewater issued by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Must pass a physical examination as prescribed by the City. May be required to pass a preemployment drug screen. Preference given for having recently completed the 40 hour Hazwoper course.

All positions require successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check. Non-residents, if appointed, must establish residency within the city limits of Kansas City, MO within nine months.
