Summary:
SSI is growing! We are adding a role within the purchasing department. The Buyer II role at SSI will source and purchase a variety of materials and components needed to build world class recycling equipment as well as daily supplies, tooling, parts for maintenance and repairs, and safety supplies. The goal is to ensure good vendor relations at the best possible prices. We are looking for someone who likes to learn and grow in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
Essential Functions:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a buyer’s role, performing purchasing duties under the supervision of the senior purchasing staff or with direction from the Supply Chain Manager.
- Prepare bid specifications, receive bids, and make purchases of commodities or goods with moderate financial impact.
- Work directly in support of parts sales, maintenance, department leads, managers, engineers, or operations staff.
- Participate in selection of vendor sources and have considerable aptitude in determining acceptable prices.
- Confer with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
- Coordinated activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and marketing, for SSI.
- Work out remedies for defective or unacceptable goods or services with users, vendors, and others.
Qualifications and Job Requirements:
· Job Knowledge: High School Diploma and minimum of 3 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
· Previous knowledge and experience with ERP or MRP systems preferred. (Syteline or SAPB1)

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
· While performing occasional duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles or loud noise levels. Eye and hearing protection must be worn as outlined in safety guidelines.
