The Opportunity
Business Unit Manager
The Business Unit Manager will be an integral member of the management team guiding strategy development and organization execution for the Curtiss-Wright Surface Technologies (CWST) organization, a divisional unit of Curtiss-Wright Corporation. CWST provides Shot Peening for variety of industries including Defense and Aerospace.
In a Job Shop Service environment, manages the coordination of processing operations activities including the following functional areas: General Management of the facility, including site level P&L. Responsible for coordinating all resources to meet the accelerated product development needs of our customers, which include operations and administrative activities. Participate in facilitating industrial and labor relations with direct reports and shop personnel.
This facility specializes in shot peening. Primary location is Windsor, CT, secondary Wakefield, MA. Travel is required between the two sites.

Your Challenge:

Participate in administering company policies and developing long range goals and objectives.

Directly or through delegation manage company safety committee.

Responsible for overseeing daily HR functions related to production employees. This includes training of supervisors and leads.

Oversee plant production, operations, and personnel and meeting on-time delivery requirements.

Delegation of authority to, and management of, shift and departmental supervisors.

Responsible for performance and talent management - train, mentor, oversee, and conduct performance reviews and corrective actions with approval from General Manager and Corporate HR office. Conduct terminations and disciplinary actions when required.

Manage company policies and procedures for improving Risk Management for health and cost containment.

Resolves problems in conjunction with managers of the following functional areas: manufacturing, quality assurance, engineering, site level office administration and sales.

Involved in translating customer requirements into state-of-the-art manufacturing strategies and processes, resulting in cost-effective processing and profitable manufacturing of company products.

May develop at responsible site level, operations-related plans, budgets, and policies and procedures. Maintain safety and regulatory compliance relating to the production facility.

Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Your Expertise:
-
Bachelor's Degree in business management or related area required.
-
8+ years of experience in the field. Job Shop service or manufacturing preferred.

5+ years managing P&L operation preferred

Track record of producing results, meeting financial targets, directing sales, and leading product and service development across a multi-site operation.

Background in shot peening, metal working, metallurgy engineering, and or plating/coating a plus

Strong oral and written communication skills with knowledge of MS Office. Strong initiative & leadership, analytical problem solving.

Good organizational skills with the ability to delegate and manage responsibility for a wide range of activities.

Ability to read blueprints and drawings.

Working knowledge of production process and shop design.
