The Boiler Mechanic will maintain and repair multi-purpose automatic call systems. The Boiler Mechanic will monitor parameters to include, but not limited to, flame failure on boilers, high/low temperature, high and low water, and generator operation in facilities and generators throughout the installation. The Boiler Mechanic will maintain and repair multi-purpose automatic call systems. The Boiler Mechanic will monitor parameters to include, but not limited to, flame failure on boilers, high/low temperature, high and low water, and generator operation in facilities and generators throughout the installation.
- Maintain equipment and systems found in multiple and single-fuel power and heating boilers, and plant auxiliary equipment and systems ensuring they are fully operational.
- Complete preventive maintenance for equipment in accordance with genereated schedules records time, materials, and equipment used to complete maintenance actions
- Maintain records for equipment and daily logs.
- Communicate to supervisors all pertinent information, and prepares any and all records required to fulfill contractual obligations.
- Install variety of machinery and equipment to include electric motors, solenoids, switches, inducers, electronic thermostats, volt igniter transformers, etc. to support plant operation.
- Use hand and power tools and variety of test equipment to repair and maintain boilers or equipment.
- Observe and interpret readings on gauges, meters and charts which register various aspects of the system’s operation, adjusting controls to insure safe and efficient operation of the system and to meet demands for the service provided; recording in logs various aspects of the system operation; keeping the engines, machinery and equipment of the system in good working order.
- Use proper maintenance schedules according to factory recommendations and communicate maintenance requirement (such as punching tubes, oil sampling, etc.).
- Mechanic should have strong knowledge of boiler fundamentals, cycles and controls, particularly stressing routine day-to-day monitoring and system analysis. Conduct inspections and diagnostic tests to determine mechanical and operational reliability of equipment and machinery within the plant.
- Must wear and use required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, safety shoes, ear plugs, hardhat, etc.
- Support the project Safety Plan through personal involvement in all aspects of safety, including training and attention to the adherence to safety requirements pertaining to particular trades or skills.
- This position has been designated as Mission Critical. Mission Critical personnel are defined as those required to meet the Installation’s safety (including inclement weather) and security needs during lockdown conditions.
- This position may be part of an emergency management/response team as required by the company to meet contract requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of four (4) years boiler and pressure vessel operations and maintenance experience
- Required training for high pressure boiler operation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge steam or hot water system and user requirements; requried
- Thorough knowledge of water treatment methods.
- Practical knowledge of environmental law; required.
- Knowledge of electricity to test and replace basic electrical components and to perform normal maintenance and operation requirements
