This position is responsible for the following:
As directed by the Foreman Leadman or Journeyman, the 3rd and 4th year apprentice is responsible for performing installations and helping direct the 1st and 2nd year apprentices and laborers on daily construction activity. He/she performs necessary electrical work in accordance with plans and specifications. Apprentice Year 3 or 4 performs all tasks with some supervision but is able to stay on task and be productivity at all times. Apprentice must be registered with the Department of Labor and enrolled in an approved training program. Work will consist of installation, alterations, additions and or/repairs of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials and equipment within the electrical construction industry. He/she is able to terminate cable and conductors, install and trouble shoot some motor control wiring drawings and demonstrate experience, which exceeds 1st and 2nd year apprentice level. The Apprentice Year 3 or 4 will also maintain a level of safety on the project that ensures adherence and compliance to the LEI Health and Safety Manual as well as all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
We are looking for someone who is entrepreneurial and self-motivated and exhibits accountability, whether working alone or with a crew.
Key Qualifications:
- Take direction from the Foreman, Leadman or Journeyman and execute work accordingly
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Install Buss Feeders
- Size and install wire, conduits and junction boxes
- Switchgear installation and termination § Layout and preparation for installation
- Underground layout and rough-in § Basic motors and controls – troubleshooting
- Execution of electrical installations in compliance with the National Electrical Code and the local authority having jurisdiction
- Review lay out documents, plans, specifications and addenda
- Operate equipment, trenchers, backhoe, lift trucks in a safe manner
- Operate and work from mechanical driven personnel lifts
- Dig trenches, either by use of hand tools or power trenching tools
- Attend required trainings and meetings, perform general maintenance and inspections, assemble electrical components, and perform inventory
