Moog Space and Defense Group in Chatsworth, CA is looking for a Laboratory Technician – 1st shift. (Must be able to work 3rd shift approximately 10% of the annual work schedule). Moog produces mechanisms for spacecraft motion control with design and flight heritage expanding over decades. Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently perform qualification tests and acceptance tests.
  • Maintain test logbooks, in a neat and organized manner.
  • Assemble test setups, both mechanical and electronic.
  • Pump down, monitor, and be responsible for the operation of thermal cycling and thermal vacuum chambers. Including the working with liquid nitrogen.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, safe and orderly work environment.
  • Must be able to work 3rd shift approximately 10% of the annual work schedule.
What you’ll need to bring with you:
The Laboratory Technician must have a broad knowledge base spanning from basic electronics and instrumentation, to mechanical systems and thermal vacuum environments. You must also have practical hands on ability to solder, make connectors as well as the ability to use mechanical tools associated with this job.
The following background and experience is required:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least 2 years’ experience in electro-mechanical testing.
  • A working knowledge of basic electronics.
  • Ability to utilize power supplies, digital volt meters, data loggers, oscilloscopes, strip chart recorders, counters, and stepper motor controllers.
  • Knowledge of transducers, such torque transducers, encoders and thermal couples.
  • Ability to operate thermal cycling chambers and thermal vacuum chambers.
  • Mechanical ability to assemble mechanical test setups
  • This position requires access to United States Export Controlled information.
Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly sit, stand, walk, talk or hear and use hands and fingers
  • Frequently reach with hands and arms; occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus; Candidate must pass a required on-site Vision Screening Examination
  • Must frequently lift and or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds

  • Overtime is currently active for this position and can occasionally be required

California Residents: Pay range for this opportunity is $70,000 - $80,000, annually
