Reporting to the Director of the UNE Student Access Center, the Administrative Coordinator is a professional staff position responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Student Access Department team, made up of a Senior Administrative Coordinator (Biddeford), two Student Access Center Coordinators (Biddeford & Portland) and the Student Access Center Director. Primarily supporting the Portland campus, this is a key position in the department that requires a hands-on team player with exceptional customer service skills. The Administrative is responsible for the well-organized and logistically planned out daily operations of the Student Access team in Portland.
As an integral member of the team, this role is responsible for providing well-informed guidance to students applying for ADA accommodations. This individual will triage student requests to the appropriate Student Access Coordinators, and will ensure seamless coordination of the Student Access Test Center, including scheduling exams and facilitating daily proctoring needs. Serving as the primary Student Access Center proctor, the Administrative Coordinator will also be responsible for maintaining meticulous record-keeping of student files, ongoing reporting of accurately maintained data related to student testing. As the first point of contact for most inquiring faculty, professional staff and students, this individual will possess the skill-set to address high-stress situations while also demonstrating excellent problem-solving capability and professional communication skills. The Student Access Center will implement and maintain policies and procedures related to section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), serving students enrolled at UNE who self-identify as having a disability. The Administrative Coordinator will work closely with other departments to ensure positive mission-driven outcomes for the University and the highest level of customer service available for our students and faculty members.
We are looking for someone who has a passion for working with students with at least three years of related experience in higher education, working with individuals with disabilities, students, or in a related field. The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of electronic filing systems, Excel, Microsoft outlook, and other electronic software. Experience with Banner and Learning Management or Exam Systems such as BrightSpace, ExamSoft, ATI, etc., is preferred. Candidate must possess a positive attitude, the ability to communicate effectively and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment for success in this position.

Student accessibility needs are evaluated regularly and problem-solved on a case by case basis through the Student Access Center. The Student Access Center is responsible for managing the Student Access Test Center where students registered with the department can take their exams with accommodations, while being proctored by Student Access professional staff. This position reports primarily to the Portland Campus and may need to work in Biddeford on some days as needed. This department’s goal is to promote inclusivity for students with functional limitations who are enrolled in online and on-campus UNE programs, by supporting equitable learning opportunities.

Qualifications
Associate’s degree in an appropriate discipline plus 3 to 4 years of relevant clerical and administrative experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences including UNE faculty, professional staff, students and family members
- Good planning, administrative and organizational skills; writing, math and basic research skills.
- Good typing/word processing and other general office skills.
- Previous experience in organizing and maintaining moderately complex filing and record-keepings systems, including relevant experience with computerized information systems.
- Good general understanding of higher education organizational structure and administrative operations.
- Ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of individuals inside and outside of the University.
- Ability to work independently.
