Position Summary
The Medication Room Attendant/Front Desk Monitor is responsible for overall supervision of medication monitoring and documentation for the Hope Harbor center residents and will promote a warm atmosphere for our clients and visitors. They will answer the phone is a professional manner. They will refer all calls to the appropriate staff or take messages for clients. This employee will also be responsible for monitoring movement and security cameras inside and outside of the building. Monitor and maintenance of ongoing alcohol and dmg free environment standard of the Hope Harbor Center. Keep all logs, sign-in rosters and other related documents current, log special incidents.
Essential Functions
- Understand, maintain, and improve procedures for the handling of medications (including scheduled
- and controlled substances).
- Participate in the counting and logging in of all medications entering the facility.
- Regularly review safety and accuracy of all medications taken by Hope Harbor residents. Ensure compliance with regulated procedures and protocols for storing, handling, and monitoring the taking of medications by residents.
- Open and attend Medication room during scheduled medication times to observe and log when Hope harbor residents take their prescribed medications.
- Monitor client's medication and alert Case Managers when a resident is not in compliance with his medications.
- Act as the staff liaison on all medication issues with Hope Harbor staff/management, and all relevant program funders, including the VA, DMH, DHCS & SAPC.
- Communicate regularly with the Operations Manager, Clinical Programs Manager and/or Director regarding any changes or challenges in Medication Room.
- Respond to clients’ needs promptly, professionally, and with great courtesy. Provide support to all residents.
- General monitoring of clients to ensure that a safe, quiet and friendly atmosphere is maintained.
- Explain rules and procedures. Enforce facility rules in a dignified, respectful and supportive manner.
- Complete all daily logs, gather all needed signatures, and give complete end-of-shift reports to the oncoming shift, Manager, Clinical Programs Manager and/or Director.
- Make timely rounds of the facility to ensure that residents are safe and protected.
- Document and report unusual occurrences, incidents, and injuries.
- Fulfill basic housekeeping duties and assignments as directed.
- Ensure that resident's rooms are neat and clean, hallways are free of obstructions and other safety hazards.
- Provide crisis intervention support as needed.
- Provide appropriate involvement in coordination with other staff so that safety and security measures are adhered.
- Maintain security inside and outside of the building.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to emergency situations.
- Maintain resident confidentiality.
- Answer and direct incoming calls to the appropriate individuals in a courteous and professional manner.
- Assist with cleaning common areas desk, and Staff restroom daily.
- Maintain a helpful and friendly attitude toward residents.
- Provide support and encouragement to residents.
- Ensure that all Facility Monitor paperwork and records are accurate and up to date.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings when assigned.
- Supports the goals and directives of the Management Team.
- Ability to work an irregular schedule with varying hours as needed.
- Documents all resident and facility issues, incidents and/or concerns for Program Team review.
- Provide orientation of House Rules and program structure to new incoming residents.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager, Clinical Programs Manager and/or Director
- Because Hope Harbor is not licensed to provide medical services to clients, this position is not authorized to provide any medical services.
Working Conditions
Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax, and telephone. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- COVID-Vaccination required by State of California
- 6 Months experience (or equivalent) working with homelessness, positive reinforcement principles, social work, etc.
- Must obtain and maintain current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Must receive T.B. testing annually.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to set limits and maintain professional boundaries at all times.
- Must maintain a non-judgmental attitude in working with residents.
- Must remain calm and follow protocol in all situations.
- Must be able to pass background check.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Driving Test and clean MVR
- Ability to carry out assignments independently and work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to maintain accurate client documentation.
- Good organizational skills and maintain accurate documentation.
NOTICE
Because of the 24 hour/365 day program operation, the Front Desk Monitor schedule is subject to change with short notice to ensure full coverage. Vacation and Holiday schedules will be determined and approved by the Manager or Director
Education
Required- High School or Equivalent or better
Licenses & Certifications
