Job Summary:

The Position

The TeensWork Alachua (TWA)Youth Summer Employment program provides high school students work-related experiences that prepare them to succeed in employment. TWA aims to strengthen Alachua

County’s workforce and help young people gain the support, educational credentials, and skills needed in today’s and in the future economy. Work sessions are held in the summer. Objectives of the program are for students to gain employment, develop social skills, learn work norms and culture, understand career pathways, build professional networks and learn to manage money. During the contracted period, the TWA Program Manager is responsible for the supervision and administration of the TWA program.

Duties include: recruitment and hiring of Job Coaches, development of recruitment strategies for student enrollment into the program, recruiting employers to employ students, monthly reporting, development of required staff training, weekly/quarterly narrative reports, weekly meetings with staff, relationship building with new employers, development of marketing material and employer service agreements, development and implementation of work-readiness, developing systems to ensure student success and employer satisfaction.

During the non-contracted period, the TWA Program Manager will support Goodwill of North Florida’s recruiting efforts through the GoodCareers Center, develop new relationships with community

organizations related to youth and employment and continue to develop established relationships, explore and identify office space during GoodCareers renovation, identify potential certifications/academic

programs for Goodwill’s adult education program, Academic Support Through Employment Process (A-STEP) program.

Program management, education, prior experience working with teens and employment services.

Job Duties

General
  • Work with Senior Manager of Internships to recruit and hire Job Coaches
  • Recruit and enroll students into the TWA program
  • Work with the Senior Manager of Internships to identify and establish relationships with potential employers.
  • Develop and implement workshops for students focused on work-readiness training.
  • Provide staff training to include: TWA process and expectations, Trauma Informed Care/Youth Mental Health First Aid, CPR/First Aid, Inclusion and Diversity and Mandatory Reporting
  • Implement and administer student assessment pre and post employment
  • Prepare and submit required reports.

Essential Duties Managing Student Performance

  • Assist with the TWA student enrollment process.
  • Supervision of Job Coaches
  • Coordinate external resources to support students (transportation, uniforms,

required work attire).

  • Oversee students’ work attendance and performance.
  • Recruit local employees to hire students.
  • Establish and implement Safety and Communication protocols with Job Coaches, students and employers.
  • Develop a system for creating and maintaining student files.
  • Identify potential problems and intervene as necessary to ensure student success. This may include leveraging the services of affiliated organizations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the Financial Coach regarding students’ participation and progress.
  • Weekly meetings with Senior Manager of Internships and Job Coaches.

85% of Time

Other duties as assigned:

  • Strong understanding of affiliate program offerings, including participation requirements and benefits

Leadership
  • Ability to instill a vision for candidate success and develop teamwork among all supporting parties.
  • Ability to develop a mindset of continuous improvement for all students.

Communications
  • Ability to listen and observe in order to understand the needs of students and Job Coaches.
  • Ability to use spoken communications to establish rapport with and influence all supporting parties.
  • Ability to write effective performance appraisals and correspondence related to students and Job Coaches.
