Job Summary
This position provides critical triage support services across the college. This support to staff, faculty and students would include: access to computers, multiple software programs, college accounts, hardware, email, and any learning management systems. This position ensures support is provided during the operating hours of the Service Desk. Serves as back-up to the Computer Lab Service Desk Personnel
Essential Functions
55% – Provides specialized support for desktop, audiovisual and/or phone systems; responds to requests or helpdesk tickets. Creates work orders to appropriate IT group and monitors work order tickets. Insures Work Order closure and proper documentation. Performs advanced troubleshooting and repair of systems and devices. Assists users with hardware and specialized software applications. Troubleshoots internet issues and monitors internet traffic.
25% – Maintains system inventory, documentation, storage, and security of equipment; orders parts as required. Creates user documentation and updates procedures. Trains, schedules and oversees the work of student lab assistants. Assists in maintaining records and interprets documentation; writes procedures and instructions
10% – Develops and maintains databases. Participates in audiovisual and graphics projects as assigned. Provides sound and video for events. Adheres to applicable policies and procedures.
10% – Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED and three years of experience with desktop user support or technical support for equipment, networks, systems, telecommunications, or technology security, appropriate to assignment.
There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED.
Desired Qualifications
A. 3 or more years of documented experience working in a customer service related IT position.
B. Documented experience in troubleshooting basic software and hardware issues on a variety of end-user computing and mobile devices, using Windows OS’s, macOS’s, and iOS’s, etc.
C. Documented experience using a wide range of computer applications including Microsoft Office, Google Apps\Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, Learning Management System (LMS), web browsers, and other commonly used applications.
D. 1 or more years of documented experience using a service desk ticketing system.
E. Current IT/Service Desk related certifications or experience (e.g. ITIL, ITSM, HDI, Six Sigma, ISO).
Special Working Conditions
- Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving: http://www.maricopa.edu/legal/rmi/vehicle.htm#requirements
- Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate’s own expense
- May be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations
- May require numerous evenings or weekends
- May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
- May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs
