- This role leads the Office’s activities around engagement and behavior change on campus in a way that builds a culture of sustainability within the institution. There are three main areas of work.
- Serves as the point of contact and manager of communications outlets and events, as well as messaging coming out of the Office of Sustainability.
- Manages processes for university-wide performance reporting as related to the university’s practice of sustainability in its culture, business, and operations.
- Manages campus engagement programs for and with key stakeholders. As part of the job, this role works in close collaboration with and facilitates the integration of sustainability into relevant functions across the university, such as, but not limited to, Human Resources, Center for Student Engagement, Athletics, and Communications for the Division of Operations.
- Facilitates the implementation of joint projects with these internal partners.
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Two years of experience involving management of projects and personnel, research, analysis, and coordination of business projects, including the presentation of written and verbal reports, meeting time-sensitive deadlines, and developing spreadsheets, metrics, presentations, and other information through the use of current software products.
- Demonstrated group and process facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Demonstrated local community development skills.
- Solid understanding of sustainable development, corporate social and environmental responsibility, stakeholder engagement, local community building development, employee engagement, and/or sustainability reporting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating tact and diplomacy to consistently interact effectively and flexibly with diverse groups of people, including executive management, faculty, staff, students, and the public.
- Analytical skills, proficient in PowerPoint and Excel.
- Knowledge of sustainable development.
- Excellent writing and interpersonal skills.
- A degree in business and/or environment is desired, along with a talent for relationship-building and collaborative work.
- Ability to skillfully manage cross-division teams and multi-stakeholder needs and timelines.
- Highly motivated and self-directed, comfortable working in a loosely structured environment both independently and as part of a team, willing and able to assume a high level of responsibility for a project from start to finish, show initiative to seize and develop new opportunities, and persistence with organizational change.
