Under general supervision, the Automations and Controls Supervisor troubleshoots and maintains automated manufacturing equipment. Installs, maintains, configures, and troubleshoots electrical components on manufacturing equipment. Installs, create programs, and repairs programmable controllers (PLC's). Knowledge of how to installs and to use pendent operation robot controllers.
The Automations and Controls Supervisor will oversee the work of our staff electricians. Your tasks will include assigning contractors on jobs, maintaining records of electrical jobs, and providing guidance to those who you supervise. Your role will also involve preparing our team to work on electrical projects. Some of the tasks that you will complete in this area include planning and scheduling projects, estimating the time and materials needed to complete them, and maintaining proper documentation of the work that is completed.
The salary range for this role is: $61,152 - $100,880.
Responsibilities:
- Program and trouble shoot PLC programs for all types of Allen Bradley, Siemens and Direct logic PLCs.
- To do minor programming, pendent control knowledge and trouble shoot of robot controls.
- SCADA, Ignition, Factory Talk ME programming and troubleshooting experience.
- Configures, installs, and troubleshoots photo eyes, proximity switches, limit switches, PLC input/output modules and all associated control wiring.
- Troubleshoots motor control centers, variable frequency drives and soft-starts up 480 Volt.
- Maintains position feedback devices, encoders, load cells, hydraulic systems, natural gas burners and boiler control systems.
- Installs and troubleshoots pressure, level, flow, temperature, consistency, conductivity, turbidity and pH transmitters.
- Tunes process control loops and machine control systems.
- Troubleshoots integrated and stand-alone graphic human machine interfaces.
- Diagnoses specifications of communication protocols, including Profibus, device net, modbus, serial and industrial Ethernet.
- Retrieves and closes-out PMs and work orders in CMMS system.
- Makes recommendations for PM adjustments and/or PM additions to equipment.
- Assists with maintaining electronic parts inventory.
- Performs overhauls, cleaning and repairs of electronic equipment.
- Plan and schedule projects
- Estimate the time and materials needed to complete projects.
- Maintain records and documentation relating to the ongoing completion of projects.
- Supervise electricians as they work, providing guidance and instruction as needed.
- Ensure that work complies with all safety requirements.
- Perform electrician tasks as needed.

- Schedule all Electrical and Controls EE
- Assist in managing daily/weekly department budget.
- Attend weekly department budget meetings.

Qualifications:
- Associate of Science Degree in Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering:
- Associate of Science Degree or 2-year Technical Degree or 2 years of controls technician, instrumentation technician, robotics technician, electronics technician experience plus successful competition of BDG's Controls Maintenance Training Program Other job requirements (e.g. certifications/licenses, CPG experience, work overtime/weekends, etc.)
- At least 3-5 years of related experience in a comparable industry.
- Minimum number of year(s) of experience required in addition to education plus type(s) of functional experience
- 3 years of controls technician, instrumentation technician, robotics technician, electronics technician experience. Other required type(s) of functional experience (e.g. Production/Operations, Accounting, Forklift Operator, Inventory Control, etc.)
- Experience maintaining electrical components or systems.
- Total minimum number of years of experience required in lieu of degree (if applicable)
- 5 years of controls technician, instrumentation technician, robotics technician, electronics technician experience
- Required to work any shift, including over-time.
- Previous experience as an electrical supervisor is highly beneficial
- In-depth knowledge of the electrical industry
- Strong leadership skills
- Familiarity with relevant state and federal codes and safety requirements technical literacy
