Research Group Leaders in the areas of Ageing, Gene Regulation and/or Genome Stability
Job description
The Institute of Molecular Biology
is looking for
3 Research Group Leaders
in the areas of
Ageing, Gene Regulation and/or
Genome Stability
IMB (www.imb.de) is a research centre on the campus of Mainz University, Germany. It is generously funded by the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation and the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, which jointly support IMB with over €250 million since 2010. Our research focuses on the biology of the cell nucleus and ranges from the molecular level to organismic, systems and computational approaches. Researchers at IMB are supported by strong core facilities that offer state-of-the-art services in bioinformatics, cytometry, genomics, histology & microscopy, proteomics and protein production.
We seek outstanding, interactive candidates with a strong publication record and an innovative research profile in the following areas:
AGEING, including genomic instability, epigenetic alterations & ageing clocks, RNA biology, proteostasis, senescence, stem cell exhaustion, metabolic & mitochondrial dysfunction or microbiome-ageing interactions
GENE REGULATION, including epigenetics, RNA biology, chromatin biology, epitranscriptomics or disordered proteins & phase separation
GENOME STABILITY, including DNA damage signalling, replication and repair, endogenous lesions, R-loops or chromosome stability
Candidates working on computational approaches to the above areas are also welcome. As a successful candidate, you will have opportunities to network with, in particular, the following research initiatives in Mainz: the CRC on “Regulation of DNA repair and genome stability” (www.sfb1361.de), the recently established Centre for Healthy Ageing (www.cha-mainz.de), the profile area ReALity (Resilience, Adaptation & Longevity; https://reality.uni-mainz.de) and the RTG GenEvo on “Gene regulation in evolution” (www.genevo-rtg.de).
Positions are initially offered for 5 years and can be extended to up to 10 years following positive evaluation. The group leader package includes an attractive salary and annual budget. There are no teaching obligations, but teaching opportunities are available at Mainz University.
To apply, please send a single PDF containing your cover letter, CV and a concise description of your research interests and future research plans to hr(at)imb-mainz.de, quoting the reference RKGL01 for “Ageing”, RKGL02 for “Gene Regulation” and RKGL03 for “Genome Stability”. Please also arrange for two letters of recommendation to be sent to hr(at)imb-mainz.de. Questions can be addressed to René Ketting (r.ketting(at)imb.de). The deadline for applications is 03 January 2023. Interviews will take place in Mainz between 13-14 February 2023.
