Status: Weekly Stipend, Seasonal Independent Contractor
Contract Dates: June 5-August 11
Pay Rate: Starting $600/week (based on experience and qualifications)
Training Dates: Week of June 5-9, 2023
Reports to: Education Manager

Position Summary
As a teaching artist, you are responsible for creating a fun and nurturing learning environment that engages youth (ages four through high school) in creative play. Responsibilities include but are not limited to choreographing and instructing dance, developing life skills and building community through meaningful connections.
In this role you live out GREAT’s mission of building life skills through quality arts education, ensuring accessibility and inclusion for all, and eliciting joy, empathy and self-discovery through live theatre experiences.
Job Functions
As a Teaching Artist, you’ll get to
- Inspire youth to create, play, and develop confidence and a sense of community through theatre arts
- Collaborate and co-teach weekly classes of 15-28 students of all backgrounds and abilities
- Create and implement daily activities and lessons following provided theatre/dance curriculum, teaching skills through games and activities
- Establish a welcoming learning environment where students feel a sense of agency and belonging
- Develop positive relationships with youth and adults to effectively communicate and ensure a safe learning environment
- Direct students through the process of creating a final sharing/performance for family and friends
- Communicate effectively with GREAT staff including utilizing Basecamp online software
- Travel to various locations throughout Central Minnesota
- Facilitate transportation of materials to each site weekly
- Manage and maintain camp spaces following all facility and safety guidelines

Desirable Skills (bonus but not required)
- Formal or informal experience working with youth of varied ages, from diverse backgrounds, and with a variety of learning styles and abilities
- Experience in movement, dance, or creating choreography
- Training in various musical theatre dance styles including Jazz, Ballet, Hip-Hop, and Tap.
Job Requirements
- Candidates must be at least 18, per GREAT’s Child Safety Policy.
- Candidates must pass a state of Minnesota background check.
- Candidates must be fully vaccinated and up-to-date regarding Covid vaccine status.
- Some lifting (up to 50 pounds).
- Driver’s license and reliable transportation required (travel within 30 miles of downtown St. Cloud).
