Staff Attorney – Stop Violence Against Women
St. Joseph, Missouri
Legal Aid seeks a full-time staff attorney to provide legal counsel and court-room advocacy on behalf of women and children who are survivors of domestic violence in an eighteen-county area in Northwest Missouri. The St. Joseph office is staffed by four experienced attorneys and three paralegals. Preference is given to applicants with experience or a demonstrated commitment to service in the area of domestic violence or general domestic relations. LAWMO is a non-profit organization that provides legal assistance in civil matters to low-income persons.
The work of VAWA advocacy is fulfilling. Responsibilities include representing clients seeking domestic violence orders of protection and related domestic case issues including Custody and Dissolution of Marriage actions. The attorney will also conduct outreach with local domestic violence shelters and provide presentations to various community groups in our service area.

The qualified candidate must have the following: a Missouri law license; excellent written and oral communication skills; and a desire and commitment to assist in the delivery of high-quality legal assistance. Courtroom experience preferred.
Salary: $60,000 + DOE
