Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst – Administration

The mission of the Allen Institute administration team is to provide support and structure to the scientific divisions. Coinciding with the team science approach, administration helps facilitate team learning and the overall mission of the institute.

The Allen Institute Finance team is looking to add a strong customer focused Business Intelligence Analyst to join the team. This position will report to the Director of Finance and has responsibilities focused on partnering with executives and senior leaders in building and supporting centralized KPI’s and reports using data visualization tools for administrative functions enabling enhanced decision making.

In all activities, the Business Intelligence Analyst will work toward building automated reporting solutions aimed at overall Efficiency/Productivity and Drive Business Results for the broader Allen Institute. Essential Functions

  • Design, develop and implement business intelligence solutions that provide actionable insights to administrative function stakeholders
  • Partner with executive and senior leaders to gather and document requirements and then translate those requirements into an automated reporting solution using Power BI
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify key performance indicators and metrics and develop into automated solutions
  • Understand administrative and scientific functions to identify how data can be used for strategic planning, productivity measures and enhanced efficiency
  • Produces high-quality output reports, analyses and automation products
  • Implement standardized reporting formats, procedures & processes
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of Power BI functionality and options
  • Partner with Central IT around usage, deployment and other best practices for efficiency and effective measurements
  • Partner with other Power BI users to develop and lead Power BI training sessions
  • Will understand reporting within both a relational and a dimensional framework
  • Develop, adopt and evangelize reporting guidelines and standards
  • Meet required deadlines as outlined by business partners

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of degree and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in business intelligence, data analysis or a related field
  • Advanced knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, or other major data visualization tools
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical information to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Seven or more years of using Power BI, Power Query, Tableau or other data analysis/visualization tool
  • Moderate knowledge of overall Power Platform
  • Previous experience developing applications with tools such as PowerApps
  • Ability to convey information easily between Scientific, IT and Administrative units
  • Ability to balance competing priorities

Physical Demands

  • Fine motor movements in fingers/hands to operate computers and other office equipment

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This role is currently able to work both remotely and onsite in a hybrid work environment. We are a Washington State employer, and the primary work location for all Allen Institute employees is 615 Westlake Ave N.; any remote work must be performed in Washington State.

Annualized Salary Range

  • $112,559 - $165,087*
  • Final salary depends on required education for the role, experience, and level of skills relevant to the role, along with work location, where applicable.
